Software Testing The process of software testing involves several phases.Here's a general outline of the software testing process:
- Test Planning: This initial phase involves defining the testing objectives, scope, and approach for the project.
- Requirement Analysis: In this phase, testers analyze the project requirements to understand the expected behavior of the software.
- Test Design: Test design involves creating detailed test cases based on the requirements and specifications. Test cases outline the steps to be followed, the expected results, and the criteria for determining whether a test has passed or failed.
- Test Environment Setup: Testers set up the necessary hardware, software, and other testing tools and resources to execute the test cases effectively.
- Test Execution: During this phase, testers execute the test cases according to the test plan. They input the test data, perform the specified actions, and observe the actual results.
- Defect Reporting and Tracking: When defects or issues are encountered during test execution, testers report them in a defect tracking system.
- Defect Resolution and Retesting: Developers review reported defects, investigate their root causes, and fix them. After fixes are implemented, testers retest the software again.
- Regression Testing: Regression testing involves re-executing previously executed test cases to ensure that recent changes or fixes have not introduced new defects.
- Test Closure: Once testing is complete and the software meets the defined quality criteria, the testing team prepares test closure reports.
